Events & Meetings

So, are you a rose lover and enthusiast? Or maybe you just have an unidentified rose that came with the new house you just purchased, that seems to have some potential? Are you having questions about growing & caring for roses? Come to one of our meetings or events and gain valuable gardening advice from many of the rosarians on hand. You’ll get to see award-winning roses on display and get a chance to learn more about them while having a visual floral experience to delight your senses. All of our meetings are open to the public, so come and join us! You do not have to be a member, although we’d love to have you join. Whether you are new to growing roses or a long-time rosarian, you are welcome.


The Asheville Blue Ridge Rose Society meets at 2pm on the second Sunday of each month except in December.

Our meetings are held at the American Red Cross at 100 Edgewood Road, Classroom 214, Asheville, NC 28804.

Novice growers are welcome. We have speakers, educational programs, practical demonstrations, and other learning opportunities.

We maintain a No-Spray Rose Garden at the American Red Cross.


February 11, 2pm The topic for today’s meeting will be SOIL. Growing beautiful roses requires rich, healthy soil. Soil test kits will be available.

March 11, 2pm Today we will be pruning the roses in the test garden. Bring your pruners and your gloves! Demonstrations for novice pruners. Rain or shine!

April 8, 2pm Fertilizing your roses. Come on by to help fertilize the roses in the test garden and learn how to do the same in your own garden.

May 12 ANNUAL ABRRS PLANT SALE! 10am – 2pm. Stop by the Red Cross building for our annual rose sale in conjunction with the Master Gardeners’ plant sale. Huge selection of unique roses, many grown on their own roots. This is a big event you don’t want to miss!

May 26-27 ANNUAL ROSE EXHIBITION 9am – 5pm. The annual exhibition features award-winning roses of every color and size. Experts will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about the selection, care, and history of roses.

June 10, 2pm Laurie Lewis – Propagating Roses – Followed by regular meeting.

July 8, 2pm Don Myers – TBA – Followed by regular meeting.

August 12, 2pm Judy Deutsch – Common Rose Pests – Followed by regular meeting.

September 9 Garden Tour/Potluck. Details coming soon!

October 14, 2pm Jack Page & Robert Myers – TBA – Followed by regular meeting.

November 11, 2pm Holiday Party and election of new officers.

December NO Meeting. See you in January, 2019!
